Sarah Kim Bonner
professional triathlete
THIS IS ME
I'm a long distance triathlete from a small, rural town in Canada. I didn't do any sports growing up but I started cycling with my dad when I was home from university. Six years later, I did my first triathlon, qualified for age group world champs at my first 70.3, and earned my pro license a year later.

In my third season racing pro, I was hit by a car while riding my bike. It took seven years, two major surgeries, and an army of help across 3 counties to get healthy. I then contracted Epstein Barr virus but, strangely, through all the struggle, I've never lost the love of my sport or the dream to be better.
The goal to reach my peak performance has never changed but my perspective has and there is a lot more joy, gratitude, and a hell of a lot more fire in me since my accident.

I work as a freelance writer, graphic designer, sports model, and production assistant.

I love baking, being outside, and I have a soft spot for animals, the mountains, and doughnuts. I've lived all over Canada (including the arctic), California, France, South Africa, Australia, Namibia, the Netherlands, England, and Spain. Now I call the Canary Islands home.

I have an MA in Literature and Modernity, BA Hons in Mass Communication, Literature and Women's Studies, and a PGDip in Sports Management.
